about

A tribute to a much loved friend, Tease

lyrics

We used to misbehave a lot, raise the shop, paint a plot
later bop the tracks and taper off - I'll catch you later on
young and numb, chasing fun - maybe just escaping from
places where the love has gone
wondered and discovered some, in others that were troublesome
half-baked plans, we had the large waistbands and the fast-paced hands
we didn't mask-face - bait - but there were far less cams
we used to laugh, make haste, we'd just take it and ran
I like to think that we could turn the hate into play
smiling, slyly catching reaches hurting trains in the day
and sometimes I'd lend you p and you would pay in paint
and at times it seems to me that you were craving a change
We're known losers, roam road no Ubers
broke troopers; no roots just manoeuvres
I'd blow fuses and go home in a stupor
no excuses you'd go alone to pursue it
the one-man plan rogue status, so flagrant
no behaviour, bold capers, but no cases
times changing you'd go places, with no favours
it seemed fate would separate us
we parted ways for many years, changing up the pace not really changing up the gears,
still looking safe-spaces in the faces in our peers, but never really facing up to basis of our fears

Round 2; you found me - is that you? I bucked you, I had to
who knew? me and you, love grew
Just friends. Just? It's more than enough bruv
It's broad and it's tough and it's sure as the blood cuz
and tethered, we could weather and weather
from now until forever, embed in our endeavours, a measure of our presence, a lending of our essence
we bared so many lessons just to bring us to the present
a new start, we fought all the thoughts hard
and bruised hearts - we swore that we'd choose art, but too dark;
a storm you couldn't move past

My heart is feeling black, but it's got a glint of chrome in it
my bed is too big, and I'm thinking all alone in it
scrolling on my phone in it, turning over stones in it,
losing hope I'm prone to pop a zopiclone to cope with it
I found purpose in the prose, and persons that we've known
and further down the road I know I'm certain that I've grown
We'll turn the hurt into a rose, emergent from the stone
